What is CA Proposition 65?
California Proposition 65 (the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) requires businesses to provide warnings if their products may expose consumers to certain chemicals identified by the State of California as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
Some chemicals, including naturally occurring heavy metals like lead, occur naturally in soil and water and may be found in plant-based ingredients, even in products that meet all applicable federal safety standards.
The warning does not mean our products are unsafe. Proposition 65 sets very strict thresholds that are often far lower than standards established by the FDA and other regulatory agencies.
Why does RestEase carry this warning?
RestEase Sleep Wellness Powder contains botanical ingredients — including Ashwagandha Root Extract, Chamomile Flower Extract, and Reishi Mushroom Extract — sourced from plants grown in agricultural soil. Soil naturally contains trace levels of heavy metals that are absorbed by plants during growth and cannot be entirely eliminated through manufacturing.
The trace levels in RestEase are well within limits set by the FDA, NSF International, and the World Health Organization. We carry this notice out of compliance with California law and our commitment to full transparency.
